Federal Stafford Loan Eligibility

Am I eligible?
- The student must be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, at least ½ time in an eligible program; and, is making satisfactory academic progress in the course of study according to the school's standards and statutory requirements; and, is not serving in an eligible medical internship/residency program;
- Are determined by the school not to owe a refund or be in default on Title IV aid, unless satisfactory arrangements have been made to repay the debt;
- Are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, a U.S. national, a permanent resident with an Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-151 or I-551), or have a Departure Record (I-94) from the U.S. Immigration-Naturalization Service. If the institution you are attending is located outside the United States, you must be a citizen of the U.S.
- Have a statement of educational purpose with the educational institution stating that the loan funds will be used solely for educational expenses.
REMEMBER: If your enrollment status changes, your loan eligibility may also change.
If you change schools during the application process, you must cancel your
Federal Stafford Loan and reapply through your new school. You must reapply
each time you wish to be considered for a new loan.
