Listed below are programs specific to North Dakota:
- North Dakota Academic and Career & Technical Scholarships - Two new scholarship opportunities are available for high school seniors
beginning with the 2009-10 graduating class. The North Dakota Academic
Scholarship and the North Dakota Career and Technical Education Scholarship
were authorized by the 2009 Legislature, in House Bill 1400, to encourage
and reward high school students for taking more challenging course work
in preparation for college and to prepare them for entering the workforce.
- North Dakota Indian Scholarship
Program - The North Dakota Indian Scholarship assists American Indian students
in obtaining a college education by providing scholarships ranging in amount
from $500 to $2,000 per year to approximately 150 to 175 eligible applicants
each year.
- North Dakota Scholars Program - North Dakota's best and
brightest high school graduates receive a financial incentive to remain in North Dakota for college, thanks to the North Dakota Scholars Program.
- North Dakota State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG) Program
- The SSIG Program, also known as the State Grant program, provides need-based
grants for North Dakota college students.
- North Dakota Teacher Shortage Loan Forgiveness Program - The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program
will reduce student loan indebtedness by up to $1,000 per year, subject to a maximum of $3,000 for those who teach at a grade level
or in a content area identified as a teacher shortage area by the superintendent of public instruction.
- North Dakota Technology Occupations Student Loan Program - The Technology Occupations Student Loan Program will reduce student
loan indebtedness by up to $1,000 per year, subject to a maximum of $3,000
for those who have graduated in a technology-related field and been employed
in a technology occupation in North Dakota for one year.
- Higher Education Resource Organization for Students (HEROS) Scholarship Program
- Municipal Government Academy (MGA) Jan Jordan Scholarship Fund - Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students who meet these minimum
qualifications. They must be a child or grandchild of a city employee or
elected city official, 17-22 years old and a registered full-time student
in an accredited ND university, college, or vocational/technical certification
program. All applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, June
19, 2009.
- North Dakota Association of Counties (NDACo) - Two $1,000 scholarships awarded to children or grandchildren of county
employees and appointed or elected county officials. Application deadline is June 5.
